Ultrasound

Ultrasound Services: Our on-site ultrasound equipment allow us to safely visualize tissues and organs inside the body of your loved one that may not be visible with radiographs.

Our state of the art ultrasound machine allows us to safely obtain a 3-D image of your pets internal organs.

Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to look at organs and structures inside the body. Our doctors can use them to view the heart, blood vessels, kidneys, liver and other organs. During pregnancy, doctors use ultrasound tests to examine the fetus. Unlike x-rays, ultrasound does not involve exposure to radiation.

During an ultrasound test, the doctor moves a device called a transducer over part of your pets body. The transducer sends out sound waves, which bounce off the tissues inside your body. The transducer also captures the waves that bounce back. Images are created from these sound waves.

An abdominal ultrasound is indicated to evaluate pets with abdominal symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, straining to urinate or urinating blood. This test can also be helpful in cases of reproductive abnormalities, unexplained fever, loss of appetite or weight loss. An abdominal ultrasound is often done if an X-ray, blood tests, or physical examination indicate a problem with an abdominal organ such as the liver, spleen, or pancreas.
